Make your iPhone easier to read

Squinting at your iPhone? You can make the words bigger. It takes about two minutes, and you can change it back any time.

Make text bigger

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Accessibility.
  3. Tap Display & Text Size.
  4. Tap Larger Text.
  5. Drag the slider to the right until the text is comfortable to read.
  6. Want it even bigger? Turn on Larger Accessibility Sizes, then drag the slider again.

Make letters thicker

  1. Go back one screen, to Display & Text Size.
  2. Turn on Bold Text.

Make everything bigger: Display Zoom

Display Zoom makes buttons and icons bigger too, not just the words.

  1. Open Settings, then tap Appearance. On older iPhone software, tap Display & Brightness instead.
  2. Tap Display Zoom, then choose Larger Text.
  3. Your iPhone shows a preview. Confirm the change when it asks.

Good to know

  • Some apps don't follow your text size setting. That's normal.
  • Very large text can push some buttons off the screen. If that happens, nudge the slider back a little.
  • To read tiny print on paper, like a menu or pill bottle, try Magnifier. See Use the flashlight, camera, and Magnifier.
  • This makes text easier to see. It doesn't replace an eye exam.

Where these steps come from
