Share photos with family using Shared Albums
A Shared Album is a photo album you share with people you choose. Everyone can look, add their own photos, and leave comments. It's a nice way to keep the family's pictures in one place.
First, turn on Shared Albums
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top, then tap iCloud.
- Tap Photos, then turn on Shared Albums.
Make a Shared Album
- Open the Photos app.
- Tap Collections, then tap Shared Albums. On older iPhone software, scroll down to find Shared Albums.
- Tap the + (plus) button.
- Type a name for the album, like "Family Photos."
- Tap Add Photos, tap the photos you want, then confirm.
- Finish creating the album. Your screen shows the button to tap.
Invite your family
- In Shared Albums, tap your album.
- Tap the people or options button, then tap Invite Participants.
- Choose how to send the invitation, like Messages, and pick the people.
When they accept, they can see the album, add photos, and comment.
Add more photos later
- Open the album, then tap the + button or Add Photos.
- Pick your photos, add a short caption if you like, and share.
Everyone in the album gets a notice when new photos are added.
Good to know
- Only invite people you know and trust.
- If a Shared Album is deleted, photos that people saved to their own library stay with them.
- Just want to send one picture? Send it by text instead.
