Turn on Find My so you can find a lost iPhone
Find My helps you find a lost iPhone, make it ring, or lock it. But it only works if you turn it on before your iPhone goes missing. Take two minutes to check it now.
Turn on Find My
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Find My. If it asks, sign in with your Apple Account.
- Tap Find My iPhone, then turn on Find My iPhone.
- Also turn on Find My network and Send Last Location. These help find your iPhone even when it's offline or the battery is very low.
If your iPhone goes missing
- Use another Apple device. On your iPad, or a family member's iPhone if you share with family, open the Find My app and tap Devices.
- Or use a web browser. On any phone or tablet, go to icloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple Account.
- Tap your iPhone in the list to see it on a map.
- Nearby? Tap Play to make it play a sound.
- Can't find it? Turn on Lost Mode (it may say Mark As Lost). This locks your iPhone with your passcode, and lets you show a message and phone number on its screen for whoever finds it.
Watch out for "we found your iPhone" scams
Apple says it will never contact you to say your iPhone was found. If you get a message like that asking for your passcode or Apple Account password, it's a scam. Never share them.
If it's gone for good
- Call your phone company to report it missing.
- Report it to your local police if it was stolen.
- Apple says not to remove the iPhone from Find My. Keeping it there makes it harder for a thief to use or sell.
Where these steps come from
